Age of Empires III, a real-time strategic video game, was developed by Ensemble Studios of Microsoft Corporation. It was published by Microsoft Game Studios. Destineer’s MacSoft ported, developed, and released the Mac version. The PC version in North America was released on October 18, 2005. In Europe, it was released on November 4, 2005. The Mac version in North America was released on November 21, 2006. Ta. The N-Gage version, developed by Glu Mobile and released on April 28th, 2009, is the N-Gage game. It is his third Age of Empires game and the sequel to Age of Empires II The Age of Kings. Age of Empires III Definitive Edition, a remaster of the game, was released on 15 October 2020. Age of Empires IV was released on Windows on October 28, 2021.
The game shows the colonization of America by Europeans between 1492 AD and 1876 AD. The game has 14 different civilizations. Age of Empires III introduced several innovations, especially the inclusion of “Home City”, a real-time strategy and role-playing feature. Two expansion packs were released. The first expansion, Age of Empires III The WarChiefs was released on 17 October 2006. Age of Empires III, The Asian Dynasties was released on 23 October 2007. Age of Empires III sold more than 2 million copies by May 2008. It won awards like GameSpy’s “Best RTS Game of 2015”, making it one of the top-selling games of 2015. Age of Empires III was his seventh-best-selling computer game in 2007.
Age of Empires III Story
The player starts with a town center that has been constructed or a wagon that will be built into one, an armed explorer, and a small number of villagers. The players explore the map, gathering resources to construct additional units and structures and research new technologies. Players earn experience points for actions such as training units or constructing buildings. Players can earn shipments at certain experience points thresholds. These shipments may be exchanged for cards in the player’s Home City. Cards could include upgrades, resources, units, etc. The game proceeds similarly to other real-time strategies until one of the sides resigns.

Age of Empires III allows players to advance through the “Ages” of technology, representing historical periods. These provide greater access to improvements, units, and buildings. The player can unlock early military units in the Discovery Age. In the Colonial Age, the player can unlock forts. To advance into any Age you must pay for food and coins, except the Colonial Age which costs only food (800). The cost of advancing in age is not different between civilizations, but it is incremental.
Age of Empires III’s “Politician system” is similar to Age of Mythology[9] and grants bonuses for advancing to a new age. The player can choose from two or three “Politicians”, each of whom will grant a bonus if they are chosen. The Politician’s generalized title is based on the period and reflects their bonus. For example, the “Naturalist” will give the player 4 cows while the “General” will give 12 musketeers with one heavy piece of artillery. The player unlocks more Politicians as the level of their Home City increases. This is done at a rate equal to one per ten levels in Home City, up to level 60.

AOE 3 Conclusion
AOE 3 is a game that has advanced the strategy genre in a way few games have since. The home towns and card system were both great additions, and the varied playstyles and gameplay mechanics of each civilization have elevated the Age of Empires to a more complex and interesting franchise. It chose the wrong period to innovate the franchise. Age of Empires 3 is a great example of what real-time strategy game developers can learn. This will continue to inspire the development of new games in this genre.
Age of Empires 3 is a game that I’m certain Relic and World’s Edge will be closely studying for the fourth installment. We can see that there are some similarities between the mechanics of each faction and the number of factions. Age of Empires III Definitive Edition has been enhanced by an amazing soundtrack, beautiful scenery, quality-of-life improvements, and a modernized UI. These features have made it worth its existence. It was needed even though the graphics weren’t that great.
