Call of Duty Modern Warfare3 was released worldwide in November 2011 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and OS X. It is the third and final installment of the original Modern Warfare trilogy and the eighth Call of Duty game overall. Treyarch created the Wii version, and n-Space developed a separate Nintendo DS version. In Japan Square Enix released the game in a subtitled and dub version. The campaign of the game follows Modern Warfare 2 and starts right after its final mission.
It is centered on Task Force 141 which includes Modern Warfare 2 and Captain Price. Soap MacTavish is also included, as well as a new playable character named Yuri. Together with the Special Air Service and Delta Force, they are hunting Vladimir Makarov, a Russian terrorist leader of the Russian Ultranationalist Party. He was responsible for several terrorist attacks in Europe that triggered a war between Ultranationalists. In the multiplayer mode of the game, killstreak options and new modes were added. The mode was also improved to fix issues from Modern Warfare 2.
The game was developed in 2010 by more than one studio using an enhanced version of Modern Warfare 2’s Engine IW. Before development began, Infinity Ward’s co-founders Jason West & Vince Zampella had left the company and formed Respawn Entertainment. After the departure of the two, other members were fired or left the company. Sledgehammer Games had joined the Modern Warfare 3 team, while Raven Software was also responsible for the multiplayer mode. After a leak of detailed information, several teaser videos were released. Each one featured a different location in the campaign.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare3 Story
The single-player campaign allows the player to take on the role of different characters, changing their perspective as the story progresses. Like its predecessors, it is divided into “Acts”, three separate sets of missions. The heads-up display shows the distance and direction between the objectives and the player for each mission. The visualization of blood-spatter and red-outs is used to show the damage done to the player. As long as the player’s character avoids damage for a certain period, their health will regenerate over time. The mission objectives are different.
They can range from requiring the player to arrive at a specific checkpoint to eliminating enemy forces in a certain location to standing your ground against enemy squadrons to directing remote-operated weaponry and planting explosives on enemy installations. A fellow soldier is always with the player, but they cannot give orders. The game, like its predecessor, includes an interactive scene depicting a terrorist attack on civilians. However, players can choose to skip this scene due to the graphic content and potentially upsetting nature of the scenes, which may include harm to children.
